Tim Wyman-McCarthy is a PhD student in the Department of Rhetoric at UC Berkeley. He received his BA in English and History from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, and holds an MSt. in English Language and Literature from the University of Oxford and an MA in Human Rights Studies from Columbia University. He has worked for the Institute for the Study of Human Rights in New York, CARE USA, and as a researcher and editor across the social sciences and humanities. His dissertation explores how international human rights organizations partner with grassroots social movements and what this can tell us about the shifting meanings of liberal internationalism.
