Dr. Graburn was educated in Anthropology at McGill University in Montreal. He has carried out ethnographic research with the Inuit (and Naskapi) of Canada (and Alaska and Greenland) since 1959. He also held a visiting appointment at the National Museum of Civilization, Ottawa. Dr. Graburn is Director Emeritus of the Canadian Studies Program; he was the inaugural holder of the Thomas Garden Barnes Chair in Canadian Studies.As Curator of the Hearst Museum, he organized four exhibitions on the Inuit of Canada and Alaska.
