The Canadian Studies Program provides travel grants of up to $1,000 to students presenting at or attending conferences where their presence will advance research on Canada or Canada-US relations. Awards are made at the director’s discretion.
ELIGIBILITY
Funding is open to students of any citizenship who are currently enrolled at UC Berkeley and in good standing. The applicant should demonstrate the potential for excellent scholarship. The subject of the conference must have clear, direct relevance to the Canadian Studies mission. Funds are intended to cover direct travel and attendance costs, such as registration, airfare, lodging, and ground transportation.
DEADLINES
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the academic year. Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Applicants should email their request to canada@berkeley.edu. Please include the following information:
- The name, location, and dates of the conference you plan to attend
- The title of their paper you plan to present, and its abstract
- A list of anticipated expenses
- A paragraph describing how the conference promotes knowledge of Canada, and how student will benefit from attending the conference.
