Dr. Peter Carver is a Professor in the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Alberta. Professor Carver teaches and researches in the areas of Canadian constitutional, administrative, immigration, and mental health law. He served as Chair of the Board of management of the Centre for Constitutional Studies at the University of Alberta from 2010 to 2012. Prior to coming to the University of Alberta, Professor Carver served as a member of the Immigration and Refugee Board and practiced law in British Columbia. Recent publications include “Comparing Aboriginal and Other Duties to Consult in Canadian Law” (Alberta Law Review 2012, forthcoming), “Canadian Mental Health Law”in Canadian Health Law and Policy (4th ed.) (LexisNexis 2011), “Recurring Constitutional Principles” in Public Law (2nd ed.) (Emond Montgomery, 2011), and “Reality Check: On the Uses of Empiricism”, (2008) 21 Canadian Journal of Law and Jurisprudence 447.

Dr. Carver joins the Canadian Studies Program for the 2016 Spring semester as a John A. Sproul Research Fellow.
